I was appointed a trustee on a trust for a family friend who had passed away. I hired Stephen Spano to represent me in this long and difficult process of setting up a trust account, hiring brokers, removing a tenant, selling the house and transferring the money to the beneficiaries. There were many unexpected complications that prolonged our matter, but Stephen’s experience and knowledge in handling the issues that came up was invaluable. He was always upfront and honest, giving his professional opinion while leaving the final decisions up to me. That transparency and guidance really helped ease my mind throughout the process. His expertise in this area enabled him to make critical decisions, yet, he always took the time to explain why, and answered every question I had. He kept me fully informed throughout the process, offered guidance, and regularly sent messages outlining the next steps. The entire office staff was very professional. Whenever I called, my issue was addressed right away. Stephen helped us navigate the process of admitting my father to an assisted living facility and selling my father's property. Spano, Dawicki & Witt is a 5+ star law firm.  I was tasked  with closing my parent’s estate.  The estate had some unexpected complications.  Stephen thoroughly explained the law with regard to these complications.  He laid out a comprehensive step by step plan for the resolution of the problems in a way that was easy to follow.  He is bright, capable, professional, kind and has the ability to keep stress at bay.  I also worked with Jillian (paralegal).  Jillian is as smart as a whip and kind as well.  She provided support and direction every step of the way.  Stephen and Jillian are a superb team. I met Atty Witt while helping my Mom set up her estate plan.  She was very kind and extremely thorough with my Mom.  About a year ago, my Mom passed and I turned to Atty Witt to handle the probate process.   There was a lot to deal with and she made it not so overwhelming.  I then turned to her as our real estate attorney in the selling of our beloved homestead.  This was a very difficult and emotional process and she held my hand through it all, even recommending our realtor.  I can’t thank Atty Witt and her team enough for their compassion and understanding. My husband and I will be calling on them again in the near future to set up our own estate plan. My sister passed in 2023 and left her estate less than clean cut to settle. Francine helped me through the entire probate process and was there whenever I had questions. She was very helpful in guiding me through the process of selling my sister's property  and so much more. "Honesty is the best policy" is not just some adage to Steve Spano of Spano Dawicki & Witt.  Thirteen years ago, my husband, Roger, was in need of advice regarding his failing mother.  Steve told him that what he had in place at the time was sufficient and there was no need for his firm to get involved.  Not your typical lawyer!  Roger told Steve that when the need arose, he would be back. Roger never forgot the honesty and integrity of Steve Spano. Recently, Roger and I had Spano Dawicki & Witt redo all of our estate planning documents.  We met with Steve several times.  His questions were insightful and our discussions helped us really decide what we wanted to do.  With our input in mind, Steve provided us with  everything from healthcare proxies and HIPPA documents to a fairly complex trust.  What could have been a stressful process was handled with the utmost respect, compassion and professionalism. The firm's understanding of eldercare issues is impressive. I had a wonderful experience with Spano Dawicki & Witt and I’ll tell you why I just  lost my husband and I  wanted to change my will, do a power of attorney and for them to look at the trust my husband and I set up years ago . I found everyone at the office to be very friendly, courteous and most important HONEST ! I ended up having my irrevocable trust dissolved in less time then what was quoted ( and actually it’s out of their hands once it’s in the court system ) I’m so pleased with the whole experience and highly recommend their services ! The entire staff of Spano Dawicki and Witt are outstanding.  They are clear, concise and very professional group of lawyers and supporting staff.  The entire staff made it very easy dealing with complex estate issues.  I had 2 different complex estates that  Andrea Witt and her staff, handled expertly.  Never once did I question my decision to hire this law firm to handle these estate issues, they were and still are excellent.  Andrea took time to explain all the legal issues, all court filing, even went as far as explaining issues that could happen, and how we were going to fix them, for both of these estates.  She was, and still is,  excellent in explaining the legal jargon, so that I could understand and make informed decisions. She answering all my questions, dealing with over 17 heirs; numerous estate issues; estates located in 2 different states. Attorney Christine Hurley of Spano, Dawicki, & Witt, recently represented us during the sale of our house.  In a word, she was terrific, handling all of the gruesome details with legal real estate expertise and aplomb. Buying and selling a home has gotten significantly more complicated in the last 40 years - when we last sold a house - and it is not for the feint of heart.  It is well worth the cost of a good real estated attorney to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks and/or that you are not taken advantage of by the other parties' agent and attorney. Christine was more than up to the task and we are ever so grateful for it.  Moreoever she continually keep us apprised of progress, issues, questions, etc.  We could not have navigated the process without her. I originally hired Spano, Dawicki, & Witt to handle my mother's legal affairs towards the end of her life.  We then utilized them fo create and manage our end-of-life legal documents including trusts.  In both cases, Both Stephen Spano and Andrea Witt knew all the questions and had all the answers before I even asked the questions.  Just top notch. And with our recent house sale, Christine Hurley was evern better than we could have expected for our real estate needs. My parents, my brother, and I have met with Attorney Spano via Zoom on a few occasions. This week we had the pleasure to meet with him twice in person.  We were impressed by his professionalism and his kindness to my elderly parents.  My parents are Florida residents and moving back to Massachusetts. For anyone who is elderly or has an elderly parent, parents or relative in need of legal direction and support, Stephen and his firm are second to none. I believed my situation to be impossible as I began this grueling legal journey for my mother a couple few years ago. However, from the very beginning, the folks at Spano, Dawicki & Witt, namely Stephen, Christine, Jillian and Donna, tried their best to put me at ease during the process. Their professionalism and genuine connection with me never wavered no matter how unglued and stressed i was became. This continued to the very end (shortly after my mother's passing) and   i honestly don't know how i would have made it through without all of their support. Although I consider myself a bright person, I knew nothing about wills, trusts, or estates. Because of this, I found the prospect of meeting with an attorney rather daunting. Thankfully, from the minute I walked into Attorney Spano’s office, I felt comfortable, welcome, and safe in his and his staff’s professional hands. Not only was Stephen extremely knowledgeable and friendly, but he was also outstanding at anticipating my questions and answering them all in an easy to understand way, with information specific to my family’s situation. That adage, “You don’t know what you don’t know,” really applies, and Stephen gave me such an education while going over all of the issues to consider. I think his special strength was telling stories that illustrate points he wanted to share before I made decisions; this was so helpful and allowed me to consider options I never would have thought of on my own. Further, I was so impressed by my experience with Stephen that I asked him to speak to my organization, and he did a marvelous job in that setting, as well. Stephen Spano contacted them and helped us navigate through the unwanted language in the facilities contract that would have had serious consequences in the long run. This would have not ended well if we had tried this on our own. He helped make a stressful situation easier to deal with. Thanks, Stephen. I take great pleasure in writing a review for The law firm of Spano & Dawicki. A couple of years ago  I was in need of assistance from a law firm that specialized in Supplemental Needs Trusts.  Spano & Dawicki was recommended to me.  I could not have been more thankful for the kindness, patience and professional advice given to me by this firm. It was quite an emotional time and Stephen Spano, Francine Dawicki and Christine Hurley were incredibly caring and highly proficient at helping me navigate the challenge associated with setting up this special trust. When my sibling, with whom the trust had been established,  passed suddenly last year, I reached out for advice and counsel again from this firm and was met with open arms of support and condolence.  It was an incredibly positive experience working with Christine Hurley.  I cannot thank Christine enough for walking me through the entire complicated process of disbursement of the trust, including communication with my siblings. I updated my estate plan three years ago after the sudden death of my wife. I contacted Steven Spano and booked a consultation session to explore my options. Steve Spano walked my wife and me through the process of establishing trusts, explaining everything throughly and clearly in down to earth language. Our meetings with him were never rushed and he answered our questions perfectly. The planning process and final trust documents addressed every conceivable contingency,  most of which we would never have thought of ourselves. We cannot imagine anyone providing a more perfect and user-friendly experience. The final trust documents included clear explanations of the various components and how to incorporate assets into the trusts. The superlative attention to details, professionalism, friendliness, and work ethic exhibited by Steve and his staff were outstanding. The radio is full of lawyers ads telling you that you need an irrevocable trust.  We used Spano and Dawicki for many years and recently went back to them for some guidance about irrevocable trusts.  Once Stephen explained the potential danger with an irrevocable trust, we decided against it.  He could have easily left out the dangers and sold us an expensive plan that would have made him a lot of money and that would have made us, and we would have been none the wise about what he did.  But, he didn’t. He gave us unbiased advice that helped us determine what was in our best interest. During our one hour consultation with attorney Spano we had many questions about how to proceed through the tangled web of rules and regulations surrounding our future finances towards our children, especially our youngest daughter who we have adult guardianship of. Attorney Spano took time to understand our family dynamics before answering questions. He explained the benefits and hazards of the options we were considering. While he did offer future professional services we were not pressured to used them. His advice during the hour was concise and helpful. My siblings and I had to secure a nursing home and health care coverage for our brother who suffered from dementia and was not able to care for himself. I did some cursory research in the Saugus area and found Spano & Dawicki, LLC and made an appointment to meet with them. Andrea  Witt and Melissa McCullough met with the entire family, including my brother and were instrumental in providing us with the guidance, care and responsiveness that the family needed in order to secure MassHealth for him. From the initial meeting to providing  answers to MassHealth on behalf of our brother, to advise the family on how we should handle his financial situation and to the final signing of the appropriate documents needed to secure the coverage for him, we felt very comfortable with the work that Andrea and Melissa were doing on our brother's behalf. Everyone at Spano & Dawicki made the family welcomed and that put us at ease as we had no idea of how to navigate the requirements and needs of our brother. If you need Elder Care assistance, I would highly recommend that you make an appointment and talk to one of the dedicated lawyers. I have worked with attorney Spano to prepare documents and obtain long term Masshealth for both of my parents. He and his staff were warm, welcoming, and professional. He gives information in an easily understandable way. He is straightforward, but in a gentle manner since he understands the emotions his clients may be experiencing surrounding the reason for his hire. He and his staff have always treated me and my family with the utmost respect. They quickly respond to calls and emails. My husband and I decided it was time to have our wills done. We made an appointment at Spano and Dawicki and met with Stephen. He talked us through the entire process, explaining every section as we went along and answered any questions we had. The entire staff was very professional and we are very happy with our decision, we will return should we ever need anything else. Several years ago my husband and I determined that it was about time for us to put our estate planning documents in place. We had heard about the Law Firm of Spano and Dawicki and came to realize that this Law Firm had an impeccable reputation and that their expertise was unmatched. We chose this Firm, because of our needs and because of the Law Firm’s reputation. My husband and I made an appointment with Attorney Stephen Spano  at the  firm , who  facilitated the process for us. Not only was Attorney Spano  efficient, and friendly, but very organized, down to earth and a wealth of knowledge. No one could ask for more. Our estate planning documents were drawn up  perfectly with no stone left unturned. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   About four years ago, a close family member fell gravely ill and died. Once again, because of our prior positive experience with Spano and Dawicki ,   we came back  to the law firm to enlist them for their  services and  legal advice  in our family member’s  behalf regarding the conducting and settling our relative’s final affairs. What should have been a simple settling of an estate, became an absolute nightmare right from the beginning due to a long distance landlord and an extremely disgruntled beneficiary , among other things. Thank goodness for Attorney Andrea Witt and Senior Paralegal Sarah Chiaradonna,  , who  worked so  tirelessly on every aspect of this matter , which even included wildly extensive circumstances that were ever evolving  for a very long time . Attorney Andrea , and Senior Paralegal Sarah were constantly so gracious, and each of them always answered  each of  my questions , ever  confirming to  me that all would be fine at the time of settlement. They always assured me that each of my questions and concerns were valid, worthy of and merited an answer. You would have thought I was their only client. They treated my husband and me with kindness, compassion and thoughtful guidance, “every” step of the way……. and…..  there were “very” many steps! All through the paperwork, timelines, phone calls and emails, Attorney Andrea and Senior Paralegal Sarah, were always upbeat and reassuring, which was invaluable during such a distressing experience. We retained Spano & Dawicki to help us through the Mass Health process for my father who had to move to a nursing home.  At our consultation, Attorney Spano was transparent with respect to fees and what the process involved.  Attorney Ouellette took over from there once we retained them and we were not disappointed.  She was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with us and our less than ideal record keeping.  Their experience of Mass Health and how this process works was invaluable and saved us more stress.  We listened to them, accepted their recommendations, and were very pleased with the outcome. I have been a client with Stephen Spano since 2003. At the time my parents needed a Will, Power of Attorney  and  Health Care Proxy.We chose Stephen because he is very knowledgeable,compassionate, professional and honest.. Months later my father needed to enter a Nursing Home, Stephen took care of the transition and protected my mother's home. Going through this process my husband an I realized we needed to update our Will and set up a Health Care Proxy and Power of Attorney. My mother is 98 years old, has Dementia, lives in her own home with 24/7  caretakers. This would not be possible without the services of Stephen, and his wonderful staff. How did I get in the Leonard Florence Center for Living? My awesome attorney, Stephen Spano! I was living in my Medford condo and falling all the time on the floor.  I wore an alarm so it triggered 911.  Medford firefighters would come to pick me up off the floor.  I retired from Chelsea Public School. I had health care workers coming to my condo.  They advised me about getting worse. Two of my friends hired Stephen Spano to help them.  They told me to call him.  I did.  I couldn't go to his office.  I made an appointment for him and a woman attorney to come to my condo.  I unlocked the door to my unit and waited.  When they a rang the doorbell, I went to buzz them in.  I fell!  They found me on the floor!  Medford Fire came to get me up. Stephen always tells the story of how he met me as he's lying on the floor. He took me to Leonard Florence days later.  I struggled getting out to the van the Center provided.  We arrived here and I never went home again.  Stephen convinced me to stay here.  My sister and my attorneys went back to my condo to get me a few things. To make a long story short between my Sister and Nephew my messy condo got cleared out. I have ALS. I can’t walk or talk. Stephen sold my car and condo.  He does my taxes every year and looks for ways to save me money.   Stephen is in charge of my life!  My cousin called Stephen “my Guardian Angel”.   I love Stephen! Stephen Spano hired me to work on a tragic wrongful death case in which Attorney Spano handled all of the estate and trust work on behalf of the widow of a World War II veteran who was hit and killed by an MBTA bus.  I got to see first hand the diligence, care and attention he gave to every member of the family. Attorney Spano not only masterfully managed every aspect of the formal planning for his client to ensure that all of her legal needs were met, he got personally involved in the lives of his client and her children to make sure that their lives remained in order.  Attorney Spano and his wonderful staff went beyond the call of duty to take care of his client and her family.  The number of hours he spent on these details was impressive.  He is a compassionate, competent and kind man.  I have since hired him to handle the trusts of a client of mine who requires his caring touch.  His legal skills are without equal.
