I was appointed a trustee on a trust for a family friend who had passed away. My first impression was that they made all of the time I needed to get my questions answered and suggest a potential plan that would work for my elderly mother. Unfortunately I had gone to another elder lawyer previously that gave me some bad and costly advice. The radio is full of lawyers ads telling you that you need an irrevocable trust. We used Spano and Dawicki for many years and recently went back to them for some guidance about irrevocable trusts. Once Stephen explained the potential danger with an irrevocable trust, we decided against it. He could have easily left out the dangers and sold us an expensive plan that would have made him a lot of money and that would have made us, and we would have been none the wise about what he did. But, he didn’t. He gave us unbiased advice that helped us determine what was in our best interest. He told the truth and saved us a lot of money, and possibly saved us from ending up in a nursing home.

During our one hour consultation with attorney Spano we had many questions about how to proceed through the tangled web of rules and regulations surrounding our future finances towards our children, especially our youngest daughter who we have adult guardianship of. Attorney Spano took time to understand our family dynamics before answering questions. He explained the benefits and hazards of the options we were considering. While he did offer future professional services we were not pressured to used them. His advice during the hour was concise and helpful. My siblings and I had to secure a nursing home and health care coverage for our brother who suffered from dementia and was not able to care for himself. I did some cursory research in the Saugus area and found Spano & Dawicki, LLC and made an appointment to meet with them. Andrea Witt and Melissa McCullough met with the entire family, including my brother and were instrumental in providing us with the guidance, care and responsiveness that the family needed in order to secure MassHealth for him. From the initial meeting to providing answers to MassHealth on behalf of our brother, to advise the family on how we should handle his financial situation and to the final signing of the appropriate documents needed to secure the coverage for him, we felt very comfortable with the work that Andrea and Melissa were doing on our brother's behalf. Everyone at Spano & Dawicki made the family welcomed and that put us at ease as we had no idea of how to navigate the requirements and needs of our brother. If you need Elder Care assistance, I would highly recommend that you make an appointment and talk to one of the dedicated lawyers. It made a tremendous difference for our family and provided a place for our brother to live in safety.

When my mother went into a nursing home unexpectantly, I thought for sure she would lose everything but Spano & Dawicki were able to create a trust fund for her.

Several years ago my husband and I determined that it was about time for us to put our estate planning documents in place. We had heard about the Law Firm of Spano and Dawicki and came to realize that this Law Firm had an impeccable reputation and that their expertise was unmatched. We chose this Firm, because of our needs and because of the Law Firm’s reputation. My husband and I made an appointment with Attorney Stephen Spano at the firm , who facilitated the process for us. Not only was Attorney Spano efficient, and friendly, but very organized, down to earth and a wealth of knowledge. No one could ask for more. Our estate planning documents were drawn up perfectly with no stone left unturned. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About four years ago, a close family member fell gravely ill and died. Once again, because of our prior positive experience with Spano and Dawicki , we came back to the law firm to enlist them for their services and legal advice in our family member’s behalf regarding the conducting and settling our relative’s final affairs. What should have been a simple settling of an estate, became an absolute nightmare right from the beginning due to a long distance landlord and an extremely disgruntled beneficiary , among other things. How did I get in the Leonard Florence Center for Living? My awesome attorney, Stephen Spano! I was living in my Medford condo and falling all the time on the floor. I wore an alarm so it triggered 911. Medford firefighters would come to pick me up off the floor. I retired from Chelsea Public School. I had health care workers coming to my condo. They advised me about getting worse. Two of my friends hired Stephen Spano to help them. They told me to call him. I did. I couldn't go to his office. I made an appointment for him and a woman attorney to come to my condo. I unlocked the door to my unit and waited. When they a rang the doorbell, I went to buzz them in. I fell! They found me on the floor! Medford Fire came to get me up. Stephen always tells the story of how he met me as he's lying on the floor. He took me to Leonard Florence days later. I struggled getting out to the van the Center provided. We arrived here and I never went home again. Stephen convinced me to stay here. My sister and my attorneys went back to my condo to get me a few things. To make a long story short between my Sister and Nephew my messy condo got cleared out. I have ALS. I can’t walk or talk.
